I’m Jason Brown, the founder of Pioneering Risk Solutions. I’m a military veteran and I’ve spent more than 25 years working in risk, assurance and work health and safety. What I do is help organisations manage the risks that can derail the business. I do this by putting clear, defensible systems in place that actually work on the ground.
I enjoy working with technical people and frontline leaders to develop procedures and practical tools that can be applied in day-to-day operations.
Over the years I’ve worked for both principals and Tier 1–2 contractors, from project advisory roles through to Executive Director. This experince has been across mining, manufacturing, logistics and renewable energy. I’ve designed and implemented enterprise risk management frameworks for a Major Hazard Facility and strengthened health and safety management systems for a coal mine operator.
I’m driven to help organisations identify their critical risks and controls, setting a clear risk appetite so everyone understands what matters. I turn controls into practical procedures people can follow, and then verify they’re working through assurance and disciplined action close-out.

I work with you to design tailored enterprise risk management (ERM) solutions that help you identify, control and clearly communicate the risks that could prevent you from achieving your business objectives.
I start with a practical review of your current risk framework, supported by interviews with owners/ board directors and frontline teams. I then provide a clear report outlining material risks, gaps, and prioritised recommendations to strengthen controls, governance and decision-making.
Once your Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework has identified the crictical risks and set your risk appetite (what you will and won’t accept), I translate that into the day-to-day management system standards, procedures and behaviours people follow on site.
I help you design tailored procedures and tools that operationalise your ERM controls and provide evidence of due diligence, aligned to the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), AS/NZS ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 31000, and applicable work health and safety and environmental legislation. I can work with your teams to implement the changes, so the system is adopted, not just written.
Audit and assurance is how you demonstrate your systems are working in practice. I can work with you to test whether your critical controls are effective in the field, whether teams are following the procedures that flow from your risk appetite, and whether actions are being closed out properly.
My approach integrates leadership engagement, risk-based auditing, control verification, and action tracking to deliver clear, defensible reporting and assurance; this helps, build confidence at all levels, that standards are being met and risk is being effectively managed.
I offer independent investigation services. I have over 16 years of experience conducting factual investigations into serious incidents, working with some of Australia’s leading workplace relations and safety lawyers to establish what happened and why, based on evidence, not assumptions.
I understand the sensitivity of these events. I work directly with you and, where required, your legal advisors to manage witnesses and evidence, produce clear factual findings, and identify practical actions that prevent recurrence and strengthen critical controls.
